 Pune
is a prominent educational center of Maharashtra as well as
of India. Students from different parts of India and the
world come to Pune for studies. It is a safe and peaceful
city, and the climate is very healthy and pleasant. The city
of Pune houses many well-known and established institutes
and colleges. Pune is popularly known as the 'Oxford of the
East'. The University of Pune is one of the finest
educational centers in the country. It offers excellent
programmes in different areas like Humanities, Science,
Commerce, Languages and Management Studies. It was
established on February 10, 1948 under the Poona University
Act. It occupies an area of about 411 acres. The university
houses 46 academic departments. It has about 118 recognized
research institutes and 269 affiliated colleges offering
graduate and under-graduate courses. |
